4 Months

4 Months Old!
14.8 lbs (70%) 24 inches (35%)

Sage is now 4 months old! She gets more fun as the days go by! She is such a happy girl. She is always smiling. She is starting to full on laugh, not just little giggles, belly laughs! She is always on the move, rolling and scooting everywhere. I'm a little worried that when she starts crawling that I am going to have my hands full with her. She is also the biggest Daddy's girl!

I put Sage in a swing for the first time and she LOVED it! Now all I want to do is buy her one so we can swing everyday!

Sage has been fortunate to be able to go on outings like the Zoo & the Aquarium since I have been working. We went to the aquarium a week or so back and we were the only ones there at the time. We sat in the Shark tunnel for about 20 minutes. It was so fun watching Sage look around at all the sharks, sting rays, and fish swim around her. She giggled and smiles at everything!

Sage got pretty lucky on the cousin front! They all love her so much. She loves watching them all run around and play. She kicks her feet with excitement, almost like she wants to get out there with them!

Riley and Sage have the cutest bond of them all! Every time Riley comes up to say "Hi" or give her a love, Sage gets the biggest smile of her face and gets so excited! Riley is so protective of little Sage, he wants to help her with everything. My heart melts seeing these two together!

Football season started, so that means we have a little Ute Fan on our hands. I would have to say she is probably the cutest Ute Fan! GO UTES!

3 Months

3 Months Old

This past month has been so fun! Sage is such a happy baby. She has started smiling, she smiles at everything. She also has found her voice! I love listening to her coo and giggle. It's probably my favorite sound ever!

Sage is a mover! She now rolls over from her back to her tummy! Once she did it, she hasn't stopped! She is always rolling around the house. I turn around for a second and she has rolled across the room! I have a feeling she will always keep us on our toes, always chancing after her!

She also sucks on everything!! She always has her fist in her mouth, and if not her fist she will find something to suck on. I went into her room to see if she had fallen asleep, but found her just sucking away at the crib bumper pads.

This month I started working again. I am working with a 2 year old boy named Luke. He loves Sage! He is always so excited to see 'Baby Sage' each morning. He loves reading her books and giving her loves. Sage loves watching him play. I always find her smiling and giggling at him.

We had the opportunity to go to Bear Lake for a few days with my family. Unfortunately Sage ended up getting her first cold. Which wasn't a very fun 'First'. But she just smiled through her runny nose. I love my baby girl!

I have found that Sage loves to be outside! She loves to look around at everything and listen to all the sounds. When ever she gets fussy you can just take her outside and she is happy again. We have started to go walk outside and wait for Dad to come home. As he pulls up we jump in the front seat and take a little ride as he parks the car. Sage loves her Daddy!

2 Months

2 Months Old

Sage is now 2 months old. She weighs 12 lb. (83%) and is 22 in. long (59%). She sleeps through the night, is always smiling, rolls over (tummy to back), and has found her tongue.

Cousins are the best! Even though there is a 5 year difference between these two cute girls, I can already tell they are going to be best buds. Watching Cali play with Sage is probably the cutest thing. Sage just smiles as Cali surrounds her with toys and smothers her with loves. Sage is Cali's real life baby doll.

Soo...lately Sage has been rolling over a lot! She is a tummy sleeper which makes rolling over a very frustrating trick. The moment she rolls over on to her back she starts to scream! This peaceful photo only lasted about 2 minutes before she was crying again. This not only makes nap time hard, it is so frustrating when she does it at night! She has proven time and time again that she is very capable of sleeping through the night, so when she wakes up due to rolling over it is very annoying.

When this started happening my mom thought of a way to stop her. She made this silly looking belt with pool noodles strapped to the sides so that Sage wouldn't be able to roll over while she slept. We all made fun of this silly looking invention. But one night Matt and I were having a really hard time getting her to go to bed. Every time we would get her to sleep we would go to transfer her into her bed and with in seconds she would roll over and wake up. Finally after a few tries Matt told me to go get my moms noodle belt. Haha!! They work! And now she always wears her belt when sleeping.

(sorry for making fun of you mom)

Camping as a Family of 3

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY

We started our 4th of July having breakfast with my family up Millcreek Canyon. It's always fun to see my nieces and nephews with Sage. She is loved! After we had breakfast we watched the grandkids play in the river. Sage even got her feet wet! She didn't like it very much, a little to cold for her baby toes.

Over the past couple days Matt had been talking about wanting to get out and go camping. I was a little hesitant to camp with a 2 month old, but I knew how much Matt wanted to go so I gave in. We loaded up Matt's 4runner and headed up Mirror Lake Highway. I am so grateful for such a prepared husband. He did all the packing and made sure we had more then we needed. It always makes me smile to listen to him go through his mental check list.

We pulled off on this dirt road just off the highway, and drove 15 miles on this crazy bumpy road! Sage normally screams in the car, but I think she was enjoying all the bumps. Matt kept telling me to check on her, he was afraid her head was bobbing around back there! She slept the whole time.

We then pulled up to this big filed of grass with this beautiful lake in the middle, and trees surrounding the open filed. We were able to drive right down to the lake and camp. We started setting up camp while Sage was still happy to be in her car seat, but when we went to get her out, she had a little treat for us!

She had a major blow out! Who knows how long she had been sitting in this. It was all over her! It was a memorable way to start out this adventure.

The bugs were insane! I was so concerned about Sage getting eaten alive so I quickly bundled her up while Matt started a fire and got dinner going. She looked so silly but she didn't get a single bug bite!

We all slept in the back of the car. It was nice and warm and a little more comfortable then sleeping in a tent. I was so worried about how our night was going to be with Sage sleeping in between us, but to my surprise, she did great! She slept through the night! Matt and I didn't sleep great but all the matters is Sage did.

That morning we were able to fish a little. I strapped Sage in my pack and fished for an hour or so while she slept. I wish I could say I caught a fish but I didn't. Still learning how to fish with a child on my chest! After feeding Sage I was able to get her to fall asleep again so me and her took a nap in the car while Matt went back out fishing. He caught 5 or 6 fish. We then had lunch and packed up and headed home.

I had very little faith in this adventure being a positive experience but I was proven wrong. It ended up being great! I am so glad I have a husband that loves the outdoors and is teaching me to love it as well. He is very patient with me, yet gives me a little push at times. And I am so grateful that our little girl is such a good happy baby so that these adventures can be positive ones! I love my little family!

I think I will keep them!

One Month

We have survived our first month of parenthood! It has been exhausting, emotional, challenging, but yet has been the most amazing experience we both have gone through. We still have lots to learn but I would have to say we got pretty lucky to have Sage for our first baby. She is a dream!

I am convinced we had a super baby! From the day we brought her home she only woke up once at night, and now she is sleeping all night long. She is doing things that amaze us everyday. Sleeping through the night is just one of those things. At just a week old she was holding her head up like a champ. She loves to look around! She started rolling over at just 3 weeks, and she is starting to smile.

1 Week Old
We took Sage to her first doctors appointment and found out that due to the intense delivery she had a broken clavicle and two hematomas on her cheek from being pulled out with the forceps. She is a tough little cookie. She doesn't even seem bothered by them.

She is a tummy sleeper! The problem with that is she scoots.
She scoots all over her crib, and she is fast!

Tying flies with Dad.

Matt had the opportunity to bless Sage on his first Father's Day. He gave a beautiful blessing, and Sage looked darling in her white dress.

Most nights we end our night with bath time. Sage loves the warm water!

We love our little girl!

May 10th, 2016

It all started the morning of the 9th. I got up to use the bathroom around 6:00 and noticed I had lost my mucous plug. My contractions started pretty quickly after. I got back into bed to try to go back to sleep but of course my mind wouldn't shut off. I ended up going out on the couch to start tracking my contractions. Everything I had read to prepare me for this moment told me to follow the 511 rule (5 minutes apart, lasting for 1 minute, for 1 hour). That is when we needed to go to the hospital. Mine were coming every 3 minutes, but only lasting for 30-40 seconds. After I had reached my hour of tracking I decided to go wake Matt up. I calming said "I'm having contractions, we are probably going to the hospital, I'm getting in the shower.", and Matt rolled over and went back to sleep. After I got out of the shower I called the doctor. The nurse I talked to on the phone made me feel a little silly for calling. After telling her about my contractions she bluntly said "YOU NEED TO GO THE THE HOSPITAL!". I then told Matt that we needed to go, and he asked "Do I have time to shower?" Haha So while Matt was showering I loaded the car while buckling over every 3 minutes to get through the next contraction.

We got to the hospital around 9:00. The nurses wanted to check how far along I was before officially admitting me. I was only dilated to a 2, and typically they wont admit you unless you are at a 3. So they recommended we walk around the halls to see if I would progress. For the next hour Matt and I walked the halls, well Matt walked, I kinda bounced. I really wanted to stay! By this point my contractions were getting a little bit more intense and with my pain tolerance I knew I needed that epidural soon. The nurse checked me again, and I had progressed enough to be admitted! YAY! They got me all settled, talked to me about a few things, and then asked when I wanted the epidural. Which I replied "Um...now?"

Shortly after receiving the epidural my water broke, which was a really cool feeling. The nurses told me it was probably a good thing I got the epidural when I did because my contractions became really strong quickly after my water broke. At that point I was progressing very quickly! Everyone was talking as if we would be having this baby that afternoon. When I reached an 8 everything slowed down. Hours went by and nothing happened. The day flew by and we realized that we wouldn't be having our baby that day. I was exhausted! It was 1:00 in the morning of the 10th, and the nurse was talking about getting ready to start pushing. When she left the room everything set in. I was going to have to push this baby out! I looked up at Matt with watery eyes. When he asked me what was wrong I told him that I was scared I wouldn't be able to do it. I was already so exhausted, I was afraid I didn't have the energy. Matt of course told me I was going to do great, and encouraged me as best he could. He then gave me a blessing to comfort me and give me strength.

After pushing for 2 and a half hours the doctor was called in. At this point my body was not responding to my epidural so I could feel more then I was wanting to, I was extremely exhausted, emotional, and scared. Nothing was going how I had imaged it. After pushing a few times with the doctor there, he realized this baby was a lot bigger then we all thought. That's when things got intense! The voices of the doctor and nurses all changed. You could feel the tension. With every contraction I had everyone shouting at me! "PUSH!!" Our little baby was stuck, so the doctor had to use the forceps to help pull her out as I pushed.

After pushing for 3 hours our baby girl was finally here! She was born at 4:45 am. She wasn't crying when she was born so the doctor quickly cut the cord and she was taken to the side to get checked out. All I really remember at this point was Matt leaning over me, with his arms around me trying to calm me down. And the nurses all saying "She's a big baby!". Then Sage was placed on my chest. I wish I could say it was this beautiful moment but as Sage was laying on my chest screaming, I was falling asleep! Haha Everyone had told us how amazing and spiritual labor and delivery would be. I don't know what they were talking about. The spirit wasn't in our room! It was long, emotional, exhausting, painful, and down right traumatizing! For all three of us! I am very grateful that my memories of those long hours are very much a blur.

The memory I hope I never forget is when Matt got to hold his daughter for the first time. At this point everything had calmed down and seemed quite. I opened my tired eyes to see Matt sitting in a rocking chair, cradling Sage. I wont go into detail about his special moment, but it was darling. I just remember smiling as I watched them. That moment made it all worth it!

Soon after we were taken to our room and all three of us passed out! That's when I got to finally have my special moment. Getting to nap with my daughter curled up next to me, skin to skin, was amazing! I remember falling asleep with tears in my eyes as I snuggled with this new, fresh out of heaven baby. My baby!
